Community
Bill and Sue both have a great interest in their community and their industry. The Company has been a member of the Moore County Home Builder since 1982. Bill has twice served as President of the Home Builders Association. During his year as President, Bill dealt with the local and state governments on a wide variety of issues.
Other accomplishments of his years as president included Bill and Sue designing the building of the "Fire Safety House" for Moore County. This mobile unity travels throughout the county to schools and special events. Fire and rescue personnel use the house to educate children and their parents on how to get out of a burning house.
During his years on the Board and as President, Bill brought in many members for the Home Builders' Association. In January 1990 he was recognized at the National Home Builder's Convention with an award for 5th in the nation for recruitment. Moore County was also recognized as second in the nation in percentage increase and second in the nation for numerical increase or association of this size. Bill was also recognized by the North Carolina Home Builders Association as "Big Spike of the Year" for his membership accomplishments. To date Bill has accumulated over 2000 membership points for the Home Builders Association.
In December 1989 Bill was awarded "Builder of the Year" for Moore County. Since then he has served on the Board and committees, including the advisory council committee for Moore County's School system. He has represented the Home Builders of Moore County's committee dealing with the Red Cockaded Woodpecker. Bill has also served as a board member representing the Home Builder's as an adviser to the Pinehurst Assurance Fund.
Having helped the Home Builder's build their first Habitat for Humanity home, Bill also helped co-chair the committee for the second home built in 1992.
In 1989 Sue helped found and was the first president of the Moore County Home Builders' Association Women's' Council. The association was founded to be a support group for the Home Builder's Association. The Council also established the William P. Marsielles Scholarship fund, a committee Sue served on for several years. She again served as president for the Council in 1994. Sue has also been involved in the membership activity for the Home Builders, and in 1994 received her "Life Spike" recognition. Sue has recently been installed and is serving as the first woman Vice President of the Moore County Home Builders Association for 2007. She is also a current board member of the Keep Moore County Beautiful Committee.
